Prerna - Multidisciplinary Visual Artist

I don't believe art belongs in just one frame. Whether it is on a canvas, paper, or skin, the purpose is always the same.

01 / The Instinct

Where It Began

Dance, music, and sketching were never separate disciplines for me—they were the exact same instinct, just expressed in different languages. Growing up where the Ganga and Yamuna meet in Prayagraj, art wasn't laid out as a career path. It was my quiet, necessary rebellion.

“They were the exact same instinct, expressed in different languages.”
02 / The Turn

The Weight of Permanence

I was genuinely terrified of the needle, of the blood, of a craft that offered absolutely no undo button. But I had learned early on stage that shaking hands before a performance vanish the second the music starts. The fear of permanence wasn't a warning; it was proof that the art mattered. If it scares you, it's exactly what you are meant to do.

03 / The Decision

A Bet on the Unknown

In 2020, while the world stopped, I had to make a choice. The lockdown forced a clarity I couldn't ignore. I packed up and moved to Mumbai. It wasn't just a change of geography; it was an active bet on myself during a genuinely terrifying year to pursue a life entirely built on art.

“It wasn't a change of geography; it was an active bet on myself.”
04 / The Apprenticeship

The First Mark

In September 2022, I began my apprenticeship at Galaxy Tattoo Studio. All the theory became sharply real. My very first anchor in this new world was a piece I tattooed on my own leg: “This too shall pass.” A permanent reminder on living skin, grounding everything that was to come.

“My very first anchor was a piece I tattooed on my own leg.”
